Flight to Madrid

Its 5:36pm right now, (on the flight to Madrid.. no wifi) according to the clock on my computer. I am flying over... well I am not exactly sure where I am. Somewhere with a lot of lights and it’s between Chicago and Madrid, still in the United States.
The Chicago skyline from above at night is absolutely breathtaking. I was going to take a picture but I couldn’t get my camera out fast enough and then the plane turned.

Saying goodbye today was tough but I didn’t cry THAT much. It is rough to leave your family knowing that you cannot easily contact them or see them in a blink of an eye like we are used to. Hopefully I will be able to Skype them when I get to my house in Granada.

My flight from Green Bay to Chicago was about 35 minutes and it flew by. Felt like I was only in the air for 10 minutes and we never made it up into the clouds. I felt like I was looking at the same scenery the whole time. That flight is A LOT shorter than the flight I’m on right now. Chicago to Madrid, Spain. The flight is supposed to last 7 hours and 55 minutes. It is a HUGE plane. I’m in row 39, the last row on the left side of the plane. Row 40 is the last row in the whole plane and only has 3 seats in the middle.  The advantage of this is that I can lean back as far as I want and not worry about other people or getting my seat kicked! I should have someone next to me, but they must not have shown up or the airlines never booked this seat. Next to me in the middle there are seats 3 wide, but further up in the plane it is 4 wide, I believe. To their right, there are 2 more seats. Can you say HUGE! My friends are in the front section, rows 7 and 8. They were lucky and somehow got seats near each other.

There is the most adorable little kid in front of me, and he likes to peek around the seat and smile and then hide. He even got the courage to touch my leg and then snickered. He speaks Spanish and he is sitting next to his dad. I am still getting used to hearing this language all the time and I am practicing understanding what they are saying to each other. He just got a plate of food, and I can smell the food in the back. Who knows what it will be but the Cheetos and Doritos that I have ate aren’t going to cut it as a healthy dinner, so hopefully I like the food. I can feel myself getting tired so I hope they deliver the food soon so I can eat and then go to bed.

In Chicago, when I was trying to change my seat to be closer to my friends, there was a group of 4 girls from Maine area who were also in line and they are also studying abroad, but in Sevilla, Spain. We talked the whole time in line and exchanged names to find each other on Facebook. There is a possibility of meeting up with them if we travel to Sevilla or they come to Granada.
Well I am back to munching on my chips because they are taking longer than I expected for the food. I either am going to be served first or last. When they handed out head phones I was last so I am hoping that is not the case for the food. :/ They aren’t playing any movies right now, and whatever is on the screen looks very very boring!

That’s all for now. I think I have given the update on everything that is going on currently.
Spain bound, finally! J
