Today was a day that we were allowed to sleep in because we were sailing from the Canary Islands to Malaga, Spain, part of the mainland. We slept in until about 9 to 10, I cannot remember exactly because there was a time change and we lost an hour of sleep during the middle of the night. When we woke up we got ready and went to Raffles court for breakfast. We filled up on all of the goodies!
We then went to officers profile in the Galaxy lounge where we got to ask questions to the Captain of the ship, the head engineer and the head of hotels. From left to right it is is the engineer, captain and head of hotels.
At the event they also gave us a piece of paper that had specifics of the ship, like the food consumed and the weight and such. Here is a picture of the paper! You should be able to double click on it to make the picture bigger.
After the event we wandered the ship. Later we went to 80s and 90s Name that Tune in Champagne lounge. It was like trivia except you had to name the song after only hearing a blipit of it. It was very difficult and I only recognized about 2 of the 15 songs. It would help if I was alive for it all. When the naming of the tunes was over we went and got lunch in the Raffles court.
After lunch we went to the duty free shop where I bought a hat. I had eyed this hat out on the first day of the cruise and I wanted it the whole time we were there so I decided to treat myself to it. It is brown and has bamboo weaving on the bill and front and mesh backing. It's a snapback.
We then went to a towel animal folding demonstration in Galaxy lounge. Here are what the housekeeping staff made before our eyes!
When towel folding finished up, we went to the captain's bridge, access by a spiral staircase from Galaxy lounge but really located on deck 11. From there you could see what the captain sees and there were pictures and other things mounted in the room.
My dad wandered the ship and took many pictures of what things were. I will describe them so you're not confused! :)
View from the glass elevators in the center of the ship. Bottom floor is the 7th.
View of the pool deck from the glass elevators.
View of decks 7 and 8. You can see reception, Champagne lounge and on the left and right sides of the pictures are where the Duty Free shops were located.
Casablanca, Morroco in the distance.
The next thing that we went to was Country Line Dancing except we didn't dance but instead just watched.
My mom and I decided that we were going to go and lay out in the sun and soak up some more rays because there really weren't many interesting events going on today.
Soon dinner time rolled around and I had a pork and vegetable spring roll for my starter again, because it was so good the first time around. For the main course I ordered beef stroganoff, expecting something similar to what my dad makes, but it was nothing in comparison And it did not satisfy me like I was hoping it would for my last meal on the ship. My dad had a seafood mixture and my mom had pork chops. For dinner we were in a hurry so we just ordered 3 small cream puffs. They were pretty good and reminded me of the kneecaps that we get at Northbrook Country Club.
After dinner we went to the show Showtime: Beatles Celebration. The show was a tribute to the Beatles and my parents and everyone else in the audience had a blast. I actually fell asleep for part of the show because I was so tired.
When the show finished we wandered the ship and then 10 minutes before the dinner time in Raffles court closed, we remembered that we had to get crepes tonight because it was the last night that we were able to get them. We rushed upstairs and I got a crepe with nutella, strawberries and whipped cream. My mom had a crepe with strawberries, pecans and whipped cream. My dad just had a dessert from the choices that were available.
When we returned to the room there was a towel animal, but I am not sure what it is. I think its an Eskimo or a monkey? They did not do this animal at the demonstration either.
Here are some examples of the boards that are posted throughout the ship so that you don't get lost!
After eating our crepes we went to the Galaxy lounge to listen to some of the music by the Ironics and then watch the Karaoke Superstars Finale. It was amazing to listen how to much talent there was on this ship. The audience was split into three sections and each section had someone in charge who had the numbers 1 -5 on cards. We all would tell our section leader what we thought the singer deserved and the section leaded had the final say of what we gave them. A gentleman won, hands down, winning all 15 points! After the show we listened to some more music by the Ironics and then went back to our rooms and went to bed.
