When I got home I worked on my photo book some more and then took an hour nap. I then worked on the photo book some more and got caught up on my blog. I have been so busy working on the photo book that I have been forgetting to blog, but now I am caught up, until tomorrow.
We ate lunch and then after lunch I packed up my backpack, yeah I fit everything in my backpack, for Barcelona. We leave tonight at 8 pm from Granada but our flight leaves a little later from the Granada airport.
When I finished packing, I blogged some more and then read my book.
Today Rachael and I are meeting with Samu for an intercambio before leaving for Barcelona. On our way walking to intercambio, Rachael spotted a truck with an elephant on it! I just had to take a picture! I was hoping that it was a sign of good things to come. But that would turn out to not be the case.
The intercambio went well. We talked about things to do in Barcelona and places to eat at in Granada for tapas, because time is winding down very quickly. It is scary to think that we will only being seeing Samu 1 or 2 more times before we return to the states.
After the intercambio, I came back home and watched the Survivor episode from Wednesday. It will be ending this Sunday, which is almost perfect timing because I will be going home soon after that.
On the Survivor episode, it was the visit from the loved ones and I was tearing up the whole time. It made me miss my family and my sisters, and of course Sparky, and it really hit me that I wanted to go home. I didn't think I would miss them as much as a I do, but it is hard to be away from home.
It was then time to go to Palacio de Congresos to meet up with Michael, Liz and Ruth to catch the airport bus. Rachael was going to be catching the bus near CLM because she had class until 8 pm, when the bus was making its rounds.
We didn't know the exact location of the bus stop so we kept on walking between two locations about 100 ft apart from each other. I called Rachael because I had a missed call from her and she told me that there was a manifestacion (protest) on the street that she was supposed to be getting picked up at. At this point we told her to try to come to a different stop because we didn't think that the bus would be able to get through. Eventually after I was freaking out, Michael walked up to the other stop nearby and talked with 4 women about the bus. They were waiting there for the bus but they also had no idea what to say about the protests that were going on. While this is going on, Rachael is running all the way from the Christopher Columbus statue to the Palacio de Congresos, about a 25 minute walk normally. I kept on calling her asking her where she was and how she was doing running wise and she was still making way, pushing herself through everyone to get down to Palacio. Soon enough, the bus showed up, 20 minutes late, and Rachael was still about 5-8 minutes away.
When we boarded the bus, one of the ladies that Michael talked with, talked with the bus driver about waiting for Rachael because they knew how important that it was that we would get to the airport. The bus driver had no sympathy so then when Michael got on the bus, he talked with the driver and he said that he would wait about 2 minutes for her to get there.. that was nice of him but we needed like 5 or more minutes! Eventually it was my turn to get on the bus but I wasn't going to get on without Rachael so I kept on begging and begging the bus driver to wait for her. He would say that the bus doesn't wait for anyone and I had to explain that she was at the other stop but because of the protests she had to run all the way here. Eventually she made it and the whole bus cheered! Rachael, Liz and I all boarded the bus and Rachael thanked him for waiting and he said it wasn't a problem! Yeah right it wasn't a problem!
We then rode around the rest of the Granada picking everyone else up at the other bus stops, that weren't near the protests and then we were off to the airport. We got through security in record time and then we sat near the cafe and ate our bocadillos. After that, we moved to the terminal (small, small, small airport) and then hung out there until it was time to board our flight. While we were waiting we were doing kick lines and some dance moves, just to kill time!
We boarded the plane and we were off to Barcelona! The flight was only about an hour long and I half slept for the majority of it. When we landed it was like deja vu for the 3rd time because it was my 3rd time in this airport in 4 months! I guess I really like Barcelona. We all met up, because we were all seated separately, and then we got on the aerobus to Placa Universitat.
At the time, we had no idea where the hostel was, but in reality it was directly across the street. It was inching closer to 1 am and we were trying to get there before 1 am because there was an extra fee if you checked in late. We started to walk in the opposite direction than what we needed to and we eventually turned around and found our hostel, at 1:05 am! When we checked in, we weren't charged for the late fee, thank goodness, and then we were shown our room.
Ruth was able to stay in our room, even though we had booked a 4 person and she booked a single. The worker was nice enough to trade rooms so she could be with us.
Some people showered but other than that, we were soon in bed and sleeping!
