Today was an average day. Nothing exciting happened in any of my classes or that I saw on the streets that is worth writing about.
The night, however was interesting! After my last class, I went to a demonstration of tango dance. I met Leah, Maggie, Michael, Ruth Ann and Liz there, and Erika and Guadalupe also showed up. It was held at the CLM in the courtyard, with a stage set up with chairs circling it. There were two dancers, a guy and a girl, one announcer and once man who played songs on his guitar. Although it was a small group, they definitely knew how to put on a show!
Before each dance, the announcer would give a 5 minute history of tango or the type of tango that was about to be performed and then the music was cued and the dancers began. It was really cool to see something like this live and in person because I usually only see things like that on Dancing with the Stars or other dancing shows on television. After the couple danced, the man on the guitar would play and sing about 2 songs, that he wrote himself. It was really impressive that a one man team could accomplish so much!
I did not have my camera with me, because I decided to go last minute, but Ruth Ann took some pictures. I will add those when she uploads them to the internet.
We had to leave partially through the show to get home on time for dinner because our host moms don't like to serve late. After dinner I checked my email and I had received all the information for Morocco for this weekend! The only bad news is that we will be returning at 5:30 am on Monday, the day that I have 4 classes. Rough day that will be, that's for sure.
