Reunited and It Feels So Good

Today was a day of traveling, across the country of Spain. I woke up at and ate breakfast and got the final things all packed away. I actually allotted myself more time than what was necessary to finish everything up, so I just sat around and waited until it was time for me to go. I walked with Rachael to the bus stop and then we parted ways because she was going to the gym.

The bus arrived soon after I got to the bus stop, I paid for my ticket and I was  off to the bus station to catch my bus to Malaga. When I got to the bus station I had some time to waste, about 20 minutes, and then I loaded my luggage onto the bus. When I sat down I had both of the seats to myself and the hour and 45 minute ride was off!

When I got to the Malaga bus station I went to the bus that took my to the airport and from there I was at my final destination on the first part of my trip. I went through security right away because I was worried that if I didn't make it through, I would have time to figure it out. Luckily I made it through with no problems, like a pro!

I printed off my ticket in advance online because I knew that my suitcase would be over the 10 kg (22 pound) weight limit because I was taking everything for one week with me! I also had a luggage sticker on my suitcase from flying previous times so that also gave me a step up in not having to weigh my luggage later.

I had about an hour and a half to waste before my boarding gate was listed on the screen so I sat around and people watched and ate my bocadillo. Mila had packed me an apple, chorizo bocadillo and a sweet, like usual. I also had a juice box which I drank on the bus over to the airport.

When the boarding gate was published, I walked over and got in line. Boarded with no problems and found my seat. The flight was about 2 hours long and there was no turbulence or anything to complain about. There was a little boy sitting across the aisle from me who liked to look and smile at me. He was adorable and we would keep each other company for the flight.

When we landed in Barcelona, I got off the plane and walked to the information desk to ask them where I could find the terminal that my parents would be arriving in. They told me that I would not be able to access them because they had to go through customs first but I could find them in the arrivals court outside of the baggage claim. I walked to the baggage claim and saw a sign that said that their luggage would be on these tracks so I put up fort and waited there. About 30 to 40 minutes later, I heard my name being called from behind me and it was my dad! I saw both him and my mom and I ran up to them and started to tear up a little bit. I was very excited to see them! Lots of hugs and kisses were shared between the both of us.

We collected their luggage and then took the bus to the city center. From there we walked down La Rambla and found our hotel with only asking one local for directions, and it was right around the corner! We checked in and went up to the room. What a gorgeous room it was!

My parents unpacked all of the goodies that they brought me.. Chocolate chip cookie bars, a lot of them!, 2 boxes of Girl Scout cookies, a huge bag of trail mix, and my Easter basket with a lot of chocolate and a stuffed bunny rabbit :)

After settling down, we decided it was time to go walk around for a bit and try to find something to eat for dinner. We went to La Rambla market and only got to see a few shops because they were closing down. Here are the shots that I got of the market that I was amazed by!

After walking around the market, we went to go find somewhere to eat. The hotel recommended a place nearby that served paella (what I was craving) so we decided to head on over that way. When we got there, there was only two people eating but we decided to eat there anyways. We ordered paella mixta and a sausage known to Catalunya with grilled beans. They were both very authentic dishes and very delicious!

After eating we wandered around town another way back and then returned to the hotel where we soon crashed!

It was nice to be reunited with my parents and finally be able to show them Spain myself! :)
